Our programmes and projects
Eastern City BID delivers programmes and projects that enhance the everyday experience of the Eastern City while supporting its role as a globally competitive business district.
Welcome to the Eastern City Business Improvement District.
The Eastern City BID is a business-led partnership working to support one of the world’s most iconic commercial districts – the Square Mile’s tall building cluster. Through a variety of projects and programmes we enhance the everyday experience for our community of workers and visitors.
On behalf of its levy-paying members, the Eastern City BID delivers added value beyond statutory services by investing circa £4m annually in its public spaces, safety & security, social responsibility, environmental sustainability, events, culture and destination promotion. Elected every 5 years to fulfil this function, the BID is governed by the corporations that operate here and the priorities set according to their needs.
The Eastern City is more than a place of work: it’s where historic streets and modern towers sit side by side, and where local activity drives change on a global scale.
By building a stronger sense of community and connectivity, combined with an exceptional experience of ‘place’, the BID’s mission is to attract talent, support long-term economic vitality and reinforce the area’s global reputation.
Public Spaces
We’re improving spaces across the Eastern City — adding more seating, planting and creating more pedestrian-friendly so it’s easier to pause, meet and enjoy the area during the day.
Community Safety
Whether you’re spending the whole day here or just dropping by for an evening, our various initiatives to reduce crime and protect vulnerable people ensure you feel welcome.
Events and Culture
From creative workshops to runs and talks, our programme is designed to help you switch off, connect with others and experience the Eastern City in a different way.
Area Promotion
We spotlight what’s here — places to eat, drink and explore, plus offers and experiences that help you make more of the Eastern City.
Social Responsibility
We create opportunities to give back, from fundraising and volunteering to supporting local causes that make a difference beyond the working day.
Empty Unit Activation
We bring empty buildings back to life with pop-up studios, exhibitions and workshops that add creativity and energy to the working week.
